Recognising the industry

The Geospatial Council of Australia recognises the brightest in our industry.

Through our Geospatial Excellence Awards and Fellowships programs, the Council awards leading geospatial individuals and organisations.

Fellows

GCA fellows

A Fellow has rendered notable service to GCA through one or more of the following:

  • undertaken a leadership role on an official Committee or the Board over a sustained period
  • developed, led and/or implemented a significant GCA-related project or activity
  • increased membership and/or raised the profile of a specific Region, Area of Practice, Special Interest Group or GCA as a whole, through substantial championing to the broader profession.

In addition to this service to the GCA, a Fellow has contributed to the profession through one or more of the following:

  • promotion of geospatial and the status of its practitioners
  • notable activities that have enhanced the public perception of the geospatial professions
  • developed technology, programs or systems that have significantly improved the profession
  • undertaken substantial research projects that have had tangible and widely acknowledged impacts across a geospatial field or profession

Honorary fellows

An Honorary Fellow has made a highly significant and lasting difference to the geospatial professions or GCA through at least two of the following:

  • promotion of geospatial professions and the status of its practitioners
  • notable activities that have enhanced the public perception of geospatial practitioners
  • developed technology, programs or systems that have significantly improved the profession
  • undertaken substantial research projects that have had measurable impacts on geospatial professions
  • hold significant esteem amongst the profession through their leadership, commitment and dedication
  • service to GCA and its members through a key volunteer

 

Nomination process
You must be a current member of GCA to nominate a colleague or peer for a fellowship.

Please ensure you read and understand the eligibility criteria and the nomination process noted in the Fellowship Policy.

  1. Complete the Fellowship Nomination Form, including sourcing the required signatures
  2. Forward your nomination to membership@GCA.org.au
