Learn about some fundamental rules for creating data in one of these packages, different GIS data types (points, lines and polygons) and what makes a picture into a proper map (cartographic principles like legend, disclaimer, projection, etc.) depending on its purpose (hard copy or digital). This session will be interactive and will encourage your participation, with accompanying instructions to help you along.
