ISPRS 2024

22 – 25 OCTOBER 2024 Perth, Western Australia

We look forward to welcoming the international photogrammetry and remote sensing community to Perth, Western Australia in October 2024 for the mid-term symposium of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Technical Commission IV: Spatial Information Science.

The ISPRS is a non-governmental organisation devoted to the development of international cooperation for the advancement of photogrammetry and remote sensing and their applications. The Society’s scientific interests include photogrammetry, remote sensing, spatial information systems and related disciplines, as well as applications in cartography, geodesy, surveying, natural, earth and engineering sciences, and environmental monitoring and protection.

The Geospatial Council of Australia is the Australian member of ISPRS, with Australia’s Professor Sisi Zlatanova appointed Chair of ISPRS Technical Commission IV.

The symposium will be held in Perth at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle from Tuesday 22 – Friday 25 October 2024 and will provide an excellent opportunity for professionals in photogrammetry and remote sensing to connect, network, and enhance their knowledge.

Program

The theme for the symposium is: Spatial information to empower the metaverse.

The call for papers for the symposium will open in August 2023.

Location

Join us in Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. Blending urban cool with raw natural beauty, Perth is effortlessly Australian. With its immersive experiences and proximity to a range of daytrip destinations, Australia’s sunniest capital city is a place where relaxation and adventure go hand in hand.

Perth’s has a wonderful artistic side with vibrant street art, cultural precinct and entertainment hubs. The area’s coastal and waterfront restaurants are the perfect spot for gourmet indulgence, while the wineries and artisan food producers of Swan Valley are just a short drive away.  VIsitors can explore countless sandy stretches as you make your way from the laid-back city of Fremantle / Walyalup, famous for spearheading the Australian craft beer scene, to the pristine islands and reefs off the coast of Rockingham and Mandurah / Mandjoogoordap, where wild dolphins sometimes gather close to the shoreline. Encounter smiling quokkas and other wildlife on the island sanctuary of Rottnest Island / Wadjemup.

Perth has excellent flight connections from Australia and international destinations, including a non-stop flight to London!

The event will take place in the Fremantle area or ‘Freo’ – Perth’s Old Town. It’s a maritime city with spirit and soul, full of vibrancy, colour and culture. Chart a course through a coalescence of festivals, museums, UNESCO World Heritage, hundred-year-old markets and a soundtrack of sails and rigging in the sea breeze. Experience an otherworldly collision of musical and creative culture, and world class food and wine – discover why TIME calls Freo one of the World’s Greatest Places. It’s an adventure not found elsewhere in Australia; swim at a beach in the middle of the city and have a cocktail brought right to your sun lounge: then weave your way through boutique shops, small bars and street art in the middle of one of Australia’s largest heritage listed precincts.
