Webinar Recording: Delivering the Future (Neurodiverse) Geospatial Workforce

Register

Australian Spatial Analytics (ASA) Talent Services is a recruitment offering that goes beyond placing talented candidates with Geospatial Council of Australia (GCA) members. It addresses your need for long-term and sustainable workforce development in the geospatial profession, which is facing severe skills shortages.

ASA differs from traditional recruitment as they focus on professionally and personally developing young neurodivergent adults, providing comprehensive on-the-job training on real-world projects to prepare them for success within your organisation.

This includes ensuring a smooth employment transition with ongoing support for candidates and inclusive partners, such as the Department of Resources (Queensland) and Acciona Engineering and Design. This enables ASA and our partner clients to secure needed talent and create enormous social impact, as this position is backfilled with junior neurodivergent staff, who face a 34% unemployment rate in Australia.

Presenter: -  Samantha Garbutt, Chief People Officer, Australian Spatial Analytics (ASA)

Samantha brings over 15 years’ experience and leadership development to her role managing the People and Impact Team to support ASA’s growing team of 100+ analysts. Having previously worked with autistic students at a secondary school in the UK, Samantha is passionate about supporting each analyst in realising their potential in the workplace and determining their individual career pathways. Additionally, Samantha oversees ASA's client relationships and demonstrates a continuous commitment to customer experience and quality improvement.

Co-Presenter: -  Stephen de Groot, Data Analyst, ASA

Stephen is a neurodivergent data analyst working on geospatial projects such as complex electrical networks and emergency data management for one of Australia’s largest councils. He has an IT degree and a passion for data and the inner workings of information, as well as programming and mathematics. Like many autistic Australians, his career has taken many twists and turns. After gaining his geospatial skills from on-the-job training, Stephen is looking at his next career move with other inclusive organisations.

Co-Presenter: - Tiarna Templeton, Data Analyst, ASA

Tiarna is a data analyst working on creating a ‘single source of truth’ for Queensland’s electricity assets via the Enzen/Energy Queensland digitisation project. Her first contact with GIS occurred when she started working for ASA in 2022, where she gained new geospatial skills from on-the-job training. Since then, she has become passionate about the field and has started a Master's of GIS and Remote Sensing at Charles Sturt University. As a Data Analyst, Tiarna's role is to support her colleagues with technical issues and she enjoys creating a collaborative environment for everyone.
