Over the past year, we have accomplished so much together:
- Our memberships grew to over 2,300 – our highest number of memberships to date.
- We strengthened our skills-based board with the appointment of the Hon. Kate Lundy as Chair, and Dr. Mary-Ellen Feeney and Stewart Dunne as Board Members.
- We hosted 48 successful events, bringing our community closer together.
- We undertook an economic impact study to highlight the crucial contribution of geospatial information to the Australian economy (still underway). We will be launching the findings at Locate24 in May.
- We advocated for geospatial policies that shape our industry’s future. We are particularly pleased that our ANZSCO submission resulted in preliminary proposed changes to the classification of occupations for geospatial professionals.
- We collaborated on projects such as ‘A Class of Your Own’s Design Engineer Construct Program’, and formed strategic alliances with TAFE institutions across Australia, addressing industry needs. We also created a consortium of universities that deliver associate, undergraduate, and postgraduate degree programs in geospatial to better understand the educational needs of industry.
- We approved 27 ESP-AP Certifications.
- We assessed 165 skilled migration applications.
- We ran our sixth Mentoring Program.
- We launched our Hydrographic Area of Practice Coaching Program.
- We strengthened international ties, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange on a global scale.
None of these achievements would have been possible without the continued support of our Members. Thank to each one of you for the role you have played in our community. Together, we have made a significant impact, and we are excited for the future of GCA. Here’s to another year of collaboration, innovation, and success!
