Milestone for mentoring

Geospatial mentoring

This week the Geospatial Council officially launched the 2023 mentoring program, now in its sixth year.

The mentoring program has so far attracted over 406 mentors and 538 mentees and been the catalyst for personal and professional growth for many of its participants.

The GCA Mentoring Program is supported by The Surveyors Trust and FIG Foundation.

Thanks to this ongoing support, the program will take a leap forward this year with the introduction of a new mentoring platform sponsored by FIG Foundation.

Launching the new platform, Executive Manager, Workforce & Strategy Danika Bakalich thanked the working group members Nick Bollard, Ben Gan, Sara Faizan, Henrique Reis and Mingzhe Li.

“The value of mentoring cannot be overstated. It is a powerful tool that allows us to grow and develop, both personally and professionally,” Ms Bakalich said.

“Mentoring relationships foster a sense of camaraderie, collaboration, and shared learning. They provide mentees with a safe space to explore their goals, gain new insights, and navigate the challenges that come their way.”

“Mentors, in turn, have the opportunity to give back to their community, make a meaningful difference, and leave a legacy that extends beyond their own careers,” she said.
